Owner/Operator, "Prowler" - San Diego, Ca.

Buzz is one of the most respected Captains in the San Diego area. He is the Owner/Operator of the "Prowler", which is one of the top one-to-two day fishing boats operating out of Fisherman’s Landing.

Buzz has been in the fishing business for over 35 years and started his career in 1969 working on half-day boats out of Oceanside. In the early 70’s he moved to San Diego and started working on the "New Lo Ann" under Dick Gadish. In 1974 Buzz received his Captain’s license and continued on the "New Lo Ann" under the new owner Dan Sansome. Once Buzz had his license he started running trips as the relief skipper and by 1976 he became Dan’s full time relief skipper.

In October of 1976 Buzz made a significant career move. Dan Sansome started to run the "Qualifier 105" and Buzz moved with him becoming the second ticket. Buzz continued to run long range trips on the Qualifier all the way through the fall of 1979. At that point Buzz made another significant career move. He decided to make the leap to become an Owner/Operator. In December of 1979 Buzz teamed up Nick Cates and bought the "Prowler." Buzz has been running this boat ever since and has built a significant reputation as one of the premier over-night fishing operations in the San Diego fleet.
