Lee of South Coronado Islands The
lee has been great for yellowtail in the 15 to 20 plus pound
class. Surface iron and sardines have been very effective but
even better has been a nose hooked slow trolled sardine or
mackerel. The yellows have been in 40 to 70 feet of water.
Please be there at daybreak and remember that the bite has
consistently gone down hill on the weekends due to boat
pressure. Size of Yellowtail--15 pounds with a few
25-35 ponders Bait- Sardine or Anchovies or
Mackerel, preferable small Mackerel Tackle- Nothing
less than 25 pound test with 40 pound highly recommended. 1-O
to 5-O hooks Depending on bait. Iron- Both surface
and Yo-Yo with surface iron working for the Yellowtail.
Method- Bait- fly-line and surface iron.
Depth--40 to 70 feet....
