About The Resort

Nothing about Waterfall is ordinary. Your adventure begins with a breathtaking flight aboard a float plane. Before you know it the plane banks and turns and there in front of you is Waterfall Resort, on Prince of Whales Island.

No other resort in Alaska offers such a rich blend of wilderness beauty, civilized pleasure, and historic heritage. The neatly painted white buildings are the very same that housed the rugged crews that worked at the Waterfall Cannery from 1912 to 1978. Now beautifully restored, they provide a wealth of fine accommodations and everything is designed for your comfort.

The island is dominated by a cool and moist maritime climate. During the summers, the average temperatures vary from 45 degrees to 75 degrees F. Yearly precipitation averages from 60" to 200" based on the exact locale. Prince of Wales is part of the Alexander Archipelago in the southernmost portion of the Alaska panhandle and is the third largest island in the United States. Our island is 135 miles long and 4 miles across.
